Abby gave me permission to introduce her because she is a kind, humble person who doesn't like to tell everyone how amazing she is. However, I am definitely going to brag on this woman and give her all the flowers she deserves. I first met Abby Stewart when she walked into my ballet class to teach when I was an adolescent. She was trained in RAD and passed on her knowledge to me and my fellow dancers. I loved her ballet class. In fact I loved all of her classes. As a teen I branched out from strictly ballet to other forms of dance. I still remember taking my first jazz class from Miss Abby. Looking back it was kind of comical. After years and years of ballet, I had no idea how to move my hips. Hip isolations? How in the world do you do that?! I was definitely awkward. Abby kindly taught me. She saw my potential. She taught me choreography that stretched and challenged me. Not only in my technique but my creativity as well. She took me places and let me experience different emotions and stories with her dances. She introduced me to the art of dance and her love for what she was doing was contagious. She encouraged me to audition for various shows. Slowly building my non existent confidence. Abby's resume is everything you want in a dance teacher. She grew up dancing at her mother's studio, danced professionally for years, and has the training and credentials everyone wants. But that isn't what makes Abby a great teacher. She has the ability to see potential and nurture it. Dance is a part of her. It's in her bones and her soul. And that is what she gives her students. She doesn't just teach dance. She gives a little part of herself.
In her role as a dance teacher Abby found herself accepting other roles as well. Artistic director, company director, and more. When Abby sees a problem she can't help but find a solution. If she sees a need, she is going to do everything she can to meet that need. If she doesn't know how to do something. She is going to learn how to do it and figure it out. Prosody was born out of her problem solving nature.
Abby Stewart is a lot of things. She is a light. A giver. A go-getter. A creator. A dreamer and an achiever. If you are going to start a company and take a step into the unknown you are going to want to do it with her.
